Wandering through a cloud forest >>> ⬇️⁣
⁣
@rex_pitt, rocking his @ButteBrand gear, sent us this shot of him exploring through Cajas National Park, a high-altitude area west of Cuenca, #Ecuador.⁣
⁣
This area is known for its vast number of trails through the evergreen cloud forests and its hundreds of lakes. It’s also home to some very rare wildlife, including Andean condors, Giant Hummingbirds and raccoon-like coatis 😲⁣

Mountains are terrifyingly beautiful- regardless of how quick the weather can change, they always remain grounded as we continue to climb them. Sometimes it's just worth the risk ☝️

Provo Peak sits in the shadows of the two giants of Utah County, Mount Nebo and Timpanogos, but at 11,068 feet is still one of the highest peaks in the Wasatch. There are no well-maintained trails to the summit, but has several routes that are steep, but not particularly difficult, while there are more challenging route available. Although the peak is climbed fairly frequently, when in comparison to other mountains in the area, the peak sees relatively few ascents, especially given it's proximity to the Provo/Orem area. Perhaps the lack of an official trail and the rough access on the road are the main reasons for its lack of popularity among hikers and climbers. -Summitpost.org •

Graceful and majestic swan sailing by. Although it looks serene this one was a bit aggressive, chomping on the necks of a few other swans 🦢 🦢🦢and letting them know who is boss.

My adventure buddy was a little tired after a day at Mill Lake! 😂 Lots of new experiences for both of us — her first ice climbing day trip ❄️ and tomorrow I start a new job that, if all goes well, will let me balance financial comfort with more presence with my daughter + a happy life for myself (i.e. lots of climbing!). I am nervous for this little life experiment, but excited for an adventure of a different kind. 📖

I spent two nights solo in the Big Bend National Park backcountry and completed the Outer Mountain Loop which is 35 miles and 7,500’ of elevation gain if you include a side trip to the local high point Emory Peak. Fortunately/unfortunately I didn’t have any bear encounters. To be honest this was a pretty intimidating trip given the water requirements involved: my pack weighed 50lbs for the first 2,500’ climb. Thankfully some angel left a spare gallon at the cache around mile 26 on the second day.
I thought this route would show me a lot of the park, which it did, but I didn’t actually see the Rio Grande. So if anyone has a kayak, is feeling adventurous, and wants to plan a trip...
