Few people get to experience the Grand Canyon from a raft. After such an experience it’s easy to get attached to that giant piece of inflatable rubber. You push it down stream each day, prepare food on it, rig and derig, and some people even choose to sleep on it!

Wildlife тут со всех сторон. И очень странно и приятно, что оленята от тебя не шарахаются, а с любопытством смотрят, подходят, пробуют на нюх. Спокойно гуляют среди домиков. Круть!

I don’t know what I thought the Grand Canyon was going to be like, but it was SO. MUCH. MORE. 🏜 I know that’s such a cliche, but it truly was the most breathtaking place I’ve ever been. It’s just insane to me that places like this exist! A mile deep, 250 miles long, and several miles wide in some parts. We got there at the end of a snowy week and it was gorgeous! Can’t wait to go back again one day! 💫

Grand Canyon - know before you go. Grand Canyon National Park is one of the most visited NPS sites with around 5million visitors a year. Winter is a great time to visit if you don’t mind the cold as the crowds are less. There were plenty of people around when we were there the first week of January so I can’t even imagine what parking and crowds must be like at peak times in the summer. The North Rim is closed for vehicular access in the winter but the South Rim is still accessible and open. Don’t get these mixed up it’s a 4-5 hour drive if you do! If you plan a trip in the winter come prepared for the COLD. We brought all our ski clothes and snow boots and it was 👌. There are several lodging options within the park all of which are pricey for what they are but staying in the park means easier access to sunrises and sunsets ! We booked our lodging in September last year. I hear for summer reservations plan on it at least a year in advance. It snows at the South rim in the winter ( elevation around 7000ft) so be prepared for icy roads. We were grateful that we rented a four wheel drive as we saw a lot of sedans and compact cars sliding around on roads in the village.
