Looooong run done! Wasn't feeling well and honestly wanted to quit after 2 mi. Was sure there was no way I'd be able to run for 3+ hours. Felt better after 5 mi. Got into a good flow at 13. Felt energized for the remainder. Happy dance at the end! Really glad I didn't give up in the beginning when things weren't going well. I love running ❤

Low HR miles for the entire run. I got a replacement HR strap and am back to wearing it. The brief hiatus from it was just what I needed though and I highly recommend taking a break every once in awhile! · Marathon training Day 56 of 125 ·

Looooong run done! Wasn't feeling well and honestly wanted to quit after 2 mi. Was sure there was no way I'd be able to run for 3+ hours. Felt better after 5 mi. Got into a good flow at 13. You need the bad runs to appreciate the good ones. @kenbement54 reminded me yesterday that I once told him that after a particularly bad run. And it’s so true and I needed to hear it quoted back to me🏃🏻‍♀️

Today’s easy run may have been the speediest zone 2 HR run I’ve had yet and I fully appreciated it after yesterday’s little meltdown. That’s evidence that the training process is working to build my aerobic base. I also did a few things that helped me today:
.
1. More sleep! Partied like an athlete-in-training on S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night 🎉 by going to 😴 extra early .
.
2. Thorough dynamic warm up with hip openers. I often only do a couple quick warm up moves before an easy run. But I was hesitating to go out in the cold again. So I spent 12 minutes doing the full Myrtl routine (that I learned from @katherun26.2 ; google it for videos). Not only did it work up a sweat and then I couldn’t wait to cool off by going outside, but it also has good glute activating strength exercises. Plus loosening the hip muscles pre-run opened up my stride with better mobility which helps with knee and hip drive .

3. Focused on cadence. Often with easy, recovery, and treadmill runs I get lazy with my cadence. I went into this run DECIDING to focus on trying to average 180 spm (actual: 179). Not only did it help me naturally run faster, but I credit the process focus with helping my HR stay lower too as it kept my mind occupied with only the present instead of worrying about pace or how many miles I had left .

4. Stayed RELAXED. Each time my heartrate approached zone 3, INSTEAD of slowing down my pace by dropping my cadence, I told myself to RELAX and think about landing light with each footstrike. I focused on my breathing and checked my form. The only problem was every time I told myself to relax, my eyes automatically closed and I caught myself running with eyes shut 🤦🏻‍♀️That’s a habit I’d better break quickly! 😬 But hopefully you get the idea behind what I was trying to do .

All these things worked well for me today and made for a great run. I’ll be keeping them in my toolkit to use on future runs and races and I hope it helps you too!

Nice solid weekend of racing this weekend for the Endurance Project athletes. @cbalven24 took 4th overall at the VDM ocr event, and @scottw_ocr wasn’t far behind in 7th. @airbornebarnes managed 4th AG and 8OA at his trail half marathon. @jamesblairjr used a local half marathon for a training run and managed a 7+ minute PR and 3rd AG, while @ocrleah was 4th AG and setting a new 5k PR. @lund_runs got tripped up and fell in his mile race but still rallied for a nice 5:02, and @joegates52 took 2nd place in his 5k race

A huge part of me is disgusted that the best read material on social media a good amount of the time has to be paired with a “sexy or suggestive” photo. Photos that should always be for a one person audience (husband) are now means to an end. I find myself being told to succumb to this cultures “norm” of “pleasing to the eye imagery”. It really shows the state of our culture’s hearts. And it must break the Lords heart. Because I know it breaks mine. One thing I have clearly understood today that this journey of #maf is not gonna be that easy...!!
Today after running the 1st half at about avg of 7:00/K pace, at MAF HR, it was extremely difficult to maintain it at even at 8-8:15/K pace for the rest of the run... What am happy about is being absolutely chill even after running 50K without any pain and fatigue.. #maffetonemethod already started loving it.. 😍😍
Successfully finish another 💯 K week with 71Kms in last 2 days..
