I headed to the treadmill today because I think the cold air on my chest made me feel worse yesterday hence the unplanned afternoon nap 😴 (check out my stories). So today’s plan was to see what I could get done based on how I felt once I got started (having not run since Friday, and that run was not the easiest). In truth, I REALLY wanted to get my long run done that I was meant to do yesterday but at this point, I’m feeling a little defeated and like it’s hard to predict how I’m going to feel right now. Ugh. I’m part of my own little ongoing saga 🙄🤣 where the crap/ sickness/ logistics/ Mother Nature I have to overcome to get in a decent run seems to change each week..... but I just keep plugging away. Last few days I’ve had some kind of virus so I spent Friday/ Saturday coughing up a lung, feeling achy and headachey mostly at night but just feeling generally rough and lethargic too (which makes me feel like I’m being lazy- I hate that). So anyway, I HAD to cut myself some slack today and so made the goal getting miles on legs and not worrying too much about pace so decided to give the Boston hills a go rather than just flat boring flat TM miles. Thanks for the inspiration and source for this one Amber (@runningwithmoxie). I didn’t do it quite as prescribed in the blog post (link in my bio) since I never really run at 0% so I just made all the  zeros,1’s and kept everything else the same so I would end up with some nice elevation gain no matter what mileage I ran. But keep me busy it did and I managed to finish my 20 miler! Wahoooooooo!!! I’m particularly proud of the 5% hill at mile 19.5 I have to say and utterly delighted to just get it done. Truly. This training series has been challenging so far but not one to be put off by hard, I’m still giving it what I’ve got. .

It’s been a really great week for running (indoors...🥶🖐🏼). I haven’t posted it all here, but I managed 5 runs this week, and it’s really down to this motto: Go when you can. -Off-days: Go, because when you have 3 kids, there’s always going to be something that keeps you away.
-When it’s going to be a day when 30 minutes alone isn’t going to happen, but I still would like to get a run in: Set my alarm for 4:50am and go, because it sets the tone for the day. 
Today was only 22 minutes of running (25 minutes total). Yesterday was 5k. It all adds up. So, if you’re like me, and super-short on time, just go, and don’t get down because your mileage is low. Go because you love it! 🥰

Long post alert: 
This is my Monday and Friday nights...sitting at the rink while my son has hockey practice. I read, I get my Starbucks and catch up on emails/texts. I would say phone calls but who really spends time talking on the phone these days. We are all just too busy. Tonight I’m starting a new book “Ultra Marathon Mom” by Holly Zimmerman. Why? Because I would love to run an ultra, when time somewhat allows, and well I love any book about running. So as I’m sitting here in the cold rink, bundled in my blanket, I open up to the first page (picture two if you slide over.) Chapter 1: BAD MOM. Now, as a single mom I have many guilty moments trying to cram my training in. I’m lucky enough to have a treadmill in my bedroom but sometimes you just want that fresh air run where you can feel alive. Like today for example, my youngest was worried because it was snowing out and I HAD to get out for a run. I couldn’t take another day on the mill. I felt like such a bad mom but the truth is I’m a much better mom once I get that run in. So I’m reading the first page of this book and it talks about how she’s sitting at her son’s hockey practice and another mom says that she’s the one that will be leaving her children to run a 250k through the Sahara Desert. If I were sitting there I’d be inspired that she was fulfilling her dream. Yet she feels guilt because the other mom says “what if something happens to you?” This is what mom’s have to face if they want to fulfill their bucket lists. Of course we don’t want to leave our children for any amount of time, yet we should be allowed to accomplish dreams/goals without the guilt. I have a HUGE goal that would pull me away for two weeks that I hope I’m able to pull off. I hope that my children are proud of me for reaching for the stars and going for my goals, no matter how old I am. 
Sorry for the long post but after one page this book has already got my wheels turning. I hope all of you parents live life to its fullest no matter what the restraints may be.❤️

I usually only prep my dinners and snacks for the week bc I’m way too tired by the end of the day to make two different meals (toddlers are so darn picky & eating fast food is so convenient). I ran a total of 22.7 miles this weekend with the Mother Runners and am feeling like I CAN DO HARD THINGS!!! Not only can I do them but I actually find a lot of joy, confidence, and clarity when doing hard things! Find a hobby you love... or kinda hate... find a support group and push yourself. Beautiful things happen to the body and soul when you can do these things. Running has never been something I've been good at, I have to work hard, sometimes it hurts, sometimes it makes me feel sick, but when I push through that, I find my #innerwild and can confidently say that I AM A RUNNER! A GOOD ONE! And it feels darn good to have found something to be proud of that is outside of motherhood.

I ran a total of 22.7 miles this weekend with the Mother Runners and am feeling like I CAN DO HARD THINGS!!! Not only can I do them but I actually find a lot of joy, confidence, and clarity when doing hard things! Find a hobby you love... or kinda hate... find a support group and push yourself. Beautiful things happen to the body and soul when you can do these things. Running has never been something I've been good at, I have to work hard, sometimes it hurts, sometimes it makes me feel sick, but when I push through that, I find my #innerwild and can confidently say that I AM A RUNNER! Whether it’s a team sport, lifting weights with a friend, or doing a yoga video at home fitness can come in a forms!!! At the end of the day a life filled with balanced, healthy and happy living is key!!!! 💫💫💫

Like many of you, my kids have never not been involved with my running.  From running while pregnant to riding in the Bob, to now running alongside me for some durations, my littles have been there.
