THANK YOU! The CBC news reports that it was our collective voice that the government listened to! This is from the CBC..... "I think the reason they were convinced to save this legislation is because ... of the power of Canadians who contacted these politicians in droves," in an interview with CBC News (Liberal New Brunswick MP Pat Finnigan withdrew three such amendments Tuesday night) "Probably over 20,000 e-mails and phone calls were made in the days proceeding this vote. This [captivity ban] is something Canadians across the country are really ready for. They understand that whales and dolphins shouldn't be kept in tanks anymore — those in the wild travel vast distances, dive deeply, live in complex family structures and enjoy a quality of life that is much better than the abject misery and barrenness of living in a tank." #emptythetanks #sscs #captivitykills #op404 #cbc

Please SHARE to your friends!! An urgent plea to save BillS203. The Bill is in big trouble. Some companies want to kill it by adding unnecessary amendments. Green Party leader Elizabeth May has written the following regarding the Bill. Please email the addresses that she has included in her letter below (copy/paste the addresses) & simply ask that the Bill be passed with no amendments. It doesn’t matter which country you’re from. It’s up to all of us to keep this Bill afloat. 3 years of struggle. We have to pull through!

On April 2nd, Bill S-203, An Act to End the Captivity of Whales and Dolphins, will be examined clause by clause in committee. If we are to have any chance at passing this legislation, the bill needs to get through committee without any amendments. If a single amendment is made, no matter how friendly or well-intentioned, it would have the effect of killing this bill.
Email the MPs on the Fisheries and Oceans Committee and tell them to pass Bill S-203 without a single amendment.

This bill is one of the most important pieces of legislation that I have worked on during my time as a Member of Parliament. Whales, dolphins and porpoises are highly intelligent creatures. When held in captivity, they suffer from confinement isolation, health problems, reduced life spans, high infant mortality rates, sensory deprivation, and trauma from transfer to other parks and calf separation. Put simply, keeping whales and dolphins in captivity is a cruel practice that needs to be outlawed in Canada.

Most Canadians support ending this outdated practice; it is time that politicians took action. Bill S-203 is the solution to this problem, as long as we pass it before the election. If it is amended during this process the bill will never become law. #op404 #emptythetanks #sscs #captivitykills

Rp @seashepherdsscs - Cruise lines such as @carnival, @royalcaribbean, @princesscruises, @celebritycruises, and @norwegiancruiseline support dolphin captivity by selling tickets to swim with dolphin attractions.

By urging their passengers to purchase these tickets they are not only pocketing a profit themselves, but also helping the dolphinariums make large amounts of cash.

Since the captive cetacean industry is driven by money, these cruise lines are direct contributors to keeping hundreds of animals in captivity as well as purchasing wild dolphins.

@operation_404 urges you to boycott these cruise lines and to never swim with dolphins while on your vacation.

We had to dig deep into the archives for this TBT! In November of 2003, dolphins had been driven into Taiji cove for slaughter. This was over half a decade before the award winning movie "The Cove" brought light to the attrocities in Taiji. Two Sea Shepherd Operatives attempted to open the nets to let a pod of dolphins escape. Sadly, the ever-watchful eye of the dolphin killers quickly spotted the attempt and put an end to it, but not before endangering the lives of our operatives several times with their dangerous boat driving. Our operation in Taiji is one of the longest running conflicts we have participated in. In fact, only very few have lasted longer and are still ongoing. Can you mention one? #taiji #infinitepatience #japansshame

IT'S OVER, for now.
The banger poles have been removed, the boats have moved, and the fisherman have begun preparing for their next season.

It has been a long and brutal six months. In total, there was a reported 555 dolphins slaughtered and 253 dolphins taken into captivity this season.

Sea Shepherd truly appreciates your support over the past six months as our volunteers documented the drives, captures, and slaughters.
As you are well aware, it can be almost impossible to get crew members into Japan, with two Cove Guardians being denied entry this season alone. Your unwavering support and patience mean the world to us, as we help raise awareness for the dolphins and continue to bring attention to the atrocities of Taiji.
Please continue following our fight against captivity on our Sea Shepherd Operation 404 social media pages. The season may be over, but our war wages on.

It's official the last four dolphins that were residing at Dolphinaris Arizona have been relocated.

We recently posted undercover footage that was obtained by a supporter last weekend showing all four dolphins still in the tanks, performing at the facility.

As of today, we can confirm that all four dolphins have been removed. According to this statement, 2 of the dolphins were moved back to Dolphin Quest in Hawaii, the other 2 dolphins were sent to a new facility Coral World being built in St. Thomas.

Great Job to the Sea Shepherd Vancouver, Unceded Coast Salish Territories chapter that braved a snow storm last night during their protest!

They were at the Vancouver Aquarium in Canada speaking out for the dolphins. Operation 404 truly appreciates their dedication and passion for the dolphins.

As a reminder we will be having protests all weekend long at locations across the United States and Canada! Find a location near you and join us!

There are 2913 dolphins in captivity & counting... Around the world, wild dolphins and whales are still captured and sold for human entertainment.
Currently, in Russia, 87 Beluga Whales and 11 Orcas are freezing to death in Sea Pens as they await their fate by the Russian Government. They were illegally captured for commercial sale to China for dolphinariums.
Since September 1st, dolphin hunters in Taiji, Japan have captured 214 dolphins from 9 different species. They have killed 438 dolphins, with 13 days remaining in the season. Their quota was 2040 for 2018/2019.
Not to mention, the number of undocumented wild dolphins captured and sold to Mexican dolphinariums from Cuba each year.
The captivity industry is killing dolphins and whales every single day. Whether the animals are rotting away in a chlorine tank or trapped in a cove in Japan. The dolphin captivity industry MUST BE STOPPED.
Enough is Enough. Do Not Buy a Ticket. Educate others. Together we can end dolphin captivity.

For the Dolphins.

BOYCOTT DOLPHINARIUMS!!! We saved the worst of the worst for last. Although there are many contributing companies to dolphin captivity, the biggest guilty party is the dolphinarium themselves!

If they were not purchasing dolphins in the first place, there would be no reason to sell tickets to these attractions.
Currently, there are 331 documented dolphinariums worldwide. That number does not include dolphins kept in swimming pools at resorts or other illegal locations.
The only way to stop dolphin captivity is to stop the industry. Do Not Buy a Ticket! Go on a whale watching excursions or visit an animal sanctuary instead. Also please encourage others to stay away from swim with dolphin attractions and seaquariums.
For the Dolphins-
