Ohhh baby! Read that a few times and let it sink in.

I’ve always described myself as someone who is “pretty good” at a lot of things, but not EXTREMELY good at one thing. Pretty good student, pretty good soccer player, pretty good singer, pretty good dancer. But, I always wanted to be EXTREMELY GOOD at something.

I wonder, now, how this mindset has influenced my (in)ability to try new things. If I go through life assuming I’m going to always *only* be “pretty good” (as if it’s not good enough) at something, what am I allowing myself to miss out on? What am I not trying? What am I not exposing myself to?

Probably, a lot. So now, I wonder.

▫️Becoming VERY GREAT takes a lot of work.
▪️You put in the work, or you don’t. Either is fine.
▫️Am I just too frickin’ lazy for that kind of work?
▪️You don’t have to be EXTREMELY GOOD at “it” to do “it.”
▫️Going through life *assuming* you’re going to only be pretty good limits your potential through that diminished look at yourself.
▪️Why do others see greatness in us before we see it in ourselves?
▫️Playing down my “pretty goodness” is a habit I wanna quit.
▪️I should start celebrating my “pretty goodness” more often.
▫️I might never be EXTREMELY GOOD at one thing.
▪️I’ll *try* to not let that dictate my feelings of worthiness.☝🏽
▫️In a world where we (I) feel pressure to have a “thing,” who are we when we are stripped of it?
▪️I’m sure others look at me and consider me GREAT, even when I don’t.
▫️Who decides my greatness?
▪️Me.

There are 2 types of coaches in the industry today. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On one side you have the coach who does the bare minimum, has no idea why they have programmed those exercises for their client but throws exercise selection together based on; ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Easy to teach/no teaching required
2. Looks good on Instagram/someone else did it
3. It’s hard and gets the client blowing
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the other side....

A highly knowledgable coach who knows exactly WHY they have programmed each element for their client. There is a justification for its relevance and they can communicate (if required) it’s purpose to their clients. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s very easy as a coach to want to make a good impression on you client every session and it’s a skill harmonising what they want with what they need. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A great tip is to use what we call the ‘SCA 3 Rule’. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Always be able to communicate to your 3 reasons why you have programmed the way you have. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Above all, make it relevant to your client and deliver it with purpose and enthusiasm.
