Tem dias que dá um orgulhinho do treino feito (apesar da cara de acabada no final), não é mesmo? O planejamento era: fazer o treino funcional. Mas a chuva pegou e o treino não rolou. Então decidi ir pra esteira e trocar o treino, corrida hoje e funcional amanhã. A academia do prédio fecha às 22h e eu desci depois das 21h, logo o pensamento de sempre era: não vou conseguir terminar o treino, o que posso fazer? Ah, vou ficar subindo e descendo minha rua, vou fica dando volta no quarteirão, não vou cumprir o treino etc. Decidi que ia esperar ser expulsa e, então, tomar uma decisão. Enquanto isso, correndo como uma louca. No final, deixaram eu terminar meus 10k e eu fiquei muito orgulhosa desse treino de hoje. O que aprendemos hoje é: tudo vai conspirar pra você não treinar, desculpas, chuva, cabeça ruim etc. Mas a vontade de se superar tem que ser maior (eu tô falando isso mais pra mim do que pra vcs 😝). Another 3 easy miles in the books as I recover from my marathon 1.5 weeks ago. My legs definitely felt less baby giraffe-like and more “bouncy” but I still don’t quite feel like my old self. Marathons are hard peeps, and it takes a long time for your body to fully recover from them (sometimes a month or more)! Too often it seems people who are frustrated with a race performance/or are pumped to get another PR jump back out there too soon and go too hard and dig themselves I to holes with overuse injuries. I take a whole week off post-marathon and then slowly ease back into running. There’s no rush and I can guarantee you’re not losing as much fitness as you think! Okay, soap box moment over, proceed with the rest of your evening 😊❤️

Real Talk. Today was the first day post ankle roll, that I got out of bed and didn’t favor the left ankle t all. I saw this as a sign that I could try a longer run. I WAS SCARED! #truestory . Because I was scared I decided I would be better off inside on the treadmill, even though it was a beautiful day. I got a mile in on the #dreadmill and decided I was being ridiculous. So I took it outside for another 4 and it felt great! Could have pushed farther but decided to hold off. So grateful for this pain free run. Also, has anyone else ever tried to take a selfie on the treadmill? Mine all look like the one above. 🤦🏼‍♀️ .

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking the past few days. It’s obvious I went out too fast but how did I let that happen? How did I feel so good pushing my pace? What was I thinking exactly? I didn’t have a good goal or race plan and didn’t really think about how I was going to approach this race well enough. I had been in Sunriver until 1:00 am the night before, I only had 3 clif bloks(I took 6 for my last half) and I did the first hilly mile in 7:25, when in hindsight, I should have done it in 7:45 or so. After the race I had zero confidence I could run a marathon. Half way through the race I didn’t even want to finish. I wanted to roll my ankle or have my back spasm. It was a weird feeling compared to my first - where I was having so much fun! At any rate, here are my splits. The 8:14 is from when I stopped and drank 2-3 glasses of Gatorade and needed to pep talk myself into starting again. Every mile after that also had at least a 5-10 second stop, except mile 13.

400’s tonight on the mill!  I asked my coach if I should do them early this am outside (but it would’ve been less than 12 hours after my 8 miler last night) OR on the mill tonight and he said mill.  I was glad to have the extra rest.  However, it was my work holiday luncheon at a Mexican restaurant today, which meant I had to just order the food and get it boxed up to go so I wouldn’t be all full of beans during this speed workout.  My co-workers wanted to know why I wasn’t eating, and I knew they wouldn’t get it, so I just told them I had a big breakfast and would eat later (I think they are now concerned about me🤦‍♀️.) It’s so nice to have this community of runners that just “get” these things!

Getting all ✨feely✨as I reflect on the community I’ve found this year. A year ago I ran this race and felt pretty alone. I remember seeing Celia in her token yellow top and thinking “that would be so cool if I could run with her.” A couple months later, I plucked up the courage to message her. Lucky for me, she was beyond welcoming. Turns out she’s not only cool to run with, she’s also a rad human to be with. This year’s race, we went out strong together, having an absolute blast screeching around the shoreline- she’s just barely out of the frame here. Feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for her, and all the other folks who have been so kind as I find my footing on these northwest trails (@maxx_antush, the whole TTT crew!)

Reaching somewhat arbitrarily set running goals is awesome; sharing stoke and celebrating each other and feeling a sense of community is worlds better. Straight cheesin’ chasing @celia.run out the gate + always gigglin’ in front of Glenn’s lens! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Getting all ✨feely✨as I reflect on the community I’ve found this year. A year ago I ran this race and felt pretty alone. I remember seeing Celia in her token yellow top and thinking “that would be so cool if I could run with her.” A couple months later, I plucked up the courage to message her. This is the fakest smile. When I left on my run, I was pissed. Just a combination of a crap night and a not so great day left me grumpy and not in the mood. I was venting about it to a friend, and they said, ‘Go for a run! Use that anger. ‘ 
And I did. I ran the fastest pace I’ve yet to track, went a little further than last time, and came back with endorphins to last for days. Also came back with a new appreciation for the things and people that make me smile and fill my cup. 
I think I’m a runner, y’all. So... get used to running posts 😂💪🏻

I’ll be honest, I REALLY did not want to run tonight. It has been a very long day, and I just, didn’t want to. 😞
But I sucked it up and ran, and had a deer cross my path, and then caught this one in my headlamp. Be careful out there. 🦌
