At a time where Rap was maturing and the business surrounding it was becoming more solidified, One Mogul diddy bopped his way to the top of high fashion. What’s most interesting is that he did and fashion wasn’t his main creative outlet. Day 13, we take a look at Sean “Diddy” Combs, Mega producer, entrepreneur, and yes fashion design. In fall of 1998, Sean John debut at a trade show in Las Vegas, since then they have become a staple sportswear in middle-class America. His flashy aesthetics, like the diamonds and pearls that were in high use, appealed to the upper class. He was able to integrate oversized T-shirts and pants into the minds of suburban America. Sean John dominated the early 2000’s street fashion scene due to his famous friend endorsements to his elaborate marketing, even taking out a huge advertisement in the middle of Time Square of him wilding the black power fist. Diddy once said, “When I think about the whole journey, it truly was a fashion revolution from how things were then and to see the impact we had on style,” Combs says. “Hip-hop fashion is now dominant.” No cap, we are the culture. PHAT FARM (Russell Simmons October 4, 1957 and Kimora Lee Simmons May 4, 1975) 
Day 12 we focus on the contribution of Russell Simmons and Kimora Lee Simmons and the Phat Fashion empire. Starting in NY, Phat Farm and Baby Phat served as a staple brand for the urban community. Inspired by brands such as Ralph Lauren, Timberlands, and Tommy Hilfiger, Phat Farm Provided timeless looks and a keen focus on classic garments. Phat Farm started with a focus on menswear and with the help of Kimora Lee, opened up Baby Phat in 1993. Phat Fashion started with two inexperienced sk8boarding/graffiti artist by the name Alyasha Jibtil Owerka-Moore and Eli Morgan Gesner who were self taught in the industry.

Can I build this fashion empire, can I really compete with the Jerry’s (Lorenzo) of world, the Virgil’s (Abloh) of the world. Can I really rise above? That same question inspired one of the most influential street wear company’s of the 90’s/2000’s; KARL KANI (can - I) Infinity. Inspired by hip hop music, Carl Williams self taught his way into a fashion empire. He we collaborate with tailors and for a small fee get them to modify clothes to be unique in his own vision. Carl would then take his drip to whatever party or club was rocking, and the patrons would be impressed with the clothes and started asking for custom Carl Williams pieces. In 94 he launched Karl Kani Infinity, which gave him the name Godfather of Urban Wear. I have to say,  it was the fire I needed under me to make me realize what I was capable of.
