The scale. Ahh the love/hate/validate relationship. It can make or break your day. If you let it.

Reasons why you gained a pound (which is nothing honestly but us girls can get caught up in it) even after a 100% complaint to your plan week:
1. You didn’t get enough sleep👉🏻lack of sleep causes your brain to release cortisol the “stress” hormone temporarily storing fat, and water, more insulin production and more fat & water storage, and your brain releases more Ghrelin the “hunger” hormone causing you to snack more at night.
2. You had a stressful week. Same things happen under stress with hormones as above 👆🏻
3. Ladies your week. You have to store water during this time and the up to 7 days before as your body is getting ready for your period. It’s a survival mechanism and totally ok! This means you are healthy in that aspect!
4. You started a new workout program and your body is storing the much needed glycogen in water to fuel muscle growth. In other words your muscles are inflamed in a good way.

Better and more realistic ways to track progress that I do and have my clients do during their weekly checkins: measurements and pictures as they tell a much more truthful story.

Things that shouldn’t be related with the scale:
1. Validation
2. Self esteem
3. Self image
4. Self worth
. . . .
The scale does NOT measure your real beauty, talent, strength, message, uniqueness, love, faith, potential, or your purpose.

If you find yourself giving the scale too much power (I have before) take a break from it! Or stop weighing yourself. The real progress is in your personal journey 🖤

I used to have a terrible soundtrack playing in my head. Negative thoughts about not being good enough, not fit enough, having no real purpose, wanting more but thinking I wasn’t capable. I suppose abusive relationships will do that to you.

Eventually I married the man of my dreams, found a job that I really enjoy, and joined an incredible community of people who challenge and lift me up every day. My mindset has shifted 1000% fold, and the coaching community was the tipping point!💞 Today I did a workout with no soundtrack. No music to keep me pumped up. No super trainer pushing me along. Nothing but my own thoughts. The new soundtrack in my head was the only thing to push me through, and it’s amazing what mindset can do for you!

I was listening to an interview with @joebiden this morning. And he spoke of this quote that his father used to say. And it’s a reminder to all of us that life should not only not be taken for granted. But also that we should be putting our energy into what we believe in. I am so thankful that my body is able. That I CAN workout and eat healthy. That I have a home and family who love and support me. And because of all of that I can put these two feet on the ground and know that I am helping my clients, guiding them to find their strength every day. Are you looking for someone in your corner?
