This gland produce an oil which ducks rub over there feathers with their beaks to maintain waterproof effect.

¿Sabías qué pasa el día posado en suelo desnudo, o sobre tocos de árboles, difícil de verlo hasta moverse o volar? Puede observarse en bandadas volando o asentadas en el campo. Cuando esta posado en el suelo es muy facil de confundirlo con una bosta de vaca.
