Swoon-worthy garden right under the bridge 😍. The most beautiful bride with icy silver dresses on her bridesmaids was having her reception here. Fairytale perfection.

A little belated, but here’s a classic bday pic where you’re the only one that looks good in the shot. Dumbo shot fail but oh well 🤷🏼‍♀️🥳 Thank you everyone for the bday wishes! All I rly wanted was to spend time with my loved ones and I got so much more than I expected 💕 ok now I’m finally done celebrating 😂

@dumbowinecru Sicily - The Reds:
(1) Vigne Meredio - Arundo - 2014: This wine is made from 100% Alicante grapes grown in Southeastern Sicily in rocky limestone soil. Medium body, notes of bright red fruits (raspberries, cherries), pepper, licorice, soft tannins, medium acidity. Alicante is a versatile and popular grape that can be grown in many other (usually hot) regions of the world and is also known as Grenache, Garnacha and Cannonau.
(2) Vittorio Savino - Nero Sichilli - 2013: This wine is made from 100% Nero d'Avola grapes grown in Southeastern Sicily on the shores of the Ionian Sea. Dark ruby red/violet, notes of red fruits, blackberry, cassis, spice, savory aromas, smooth and silky texture, full-bodied, long finish. This was the favorite red of the evening! Fun Fact: The tiny vineyard is worked manually with the help of Ciccio the mule - how awesome is that!
(3) Bonavita - Faro - 2014: This wine is a blend of 70% Nerello Mascalese, 20% Nerello Capuccio and 10% Nocera grapes grown in the Northeastern tip of Sicily. Medium bodied, aromoas and flavors of dark fruits, forest floor, mushrooms and leather. These grapes (except Nocera) are also grown in Mt. Etna, but in Faro they are grown at much lower altitudes in clay and limestone soil instead of volcanic soil formed by lava and ash.
(4) Nerello Mascalese Vigne Vecchie - Calabretta - 2007: This wine is a blend of 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Capuccio, the 2 primary red wine grapes of Mt. Etna. The flavor of Nerello Mascalese is often described as a cross between Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo (the grape in Barolo). This particular wine had a bright floral nose and notes of black cherry blackberry, earth and spice, structured tannins and acidity. Big and bold with more than than a decade of age, this wine became enjoyable and easy to drink after decanting for an hour – a perfect way to end our tasting!

@dumbowinecru Sicily - The Whites:
(1) I Vigneri Salvo Foti - Aurora - 2017: This wine is a blend of 90% Carricante and 10% Minnella grapes grown at high altitude on the Eastern slope of Mt. Etna. Pale yellow/gold with notes of lemon, green apple, honey, tropical fruits, saline and chalkiness from the volcanic soil. Crisp and dry with balanced acidity and a lingering finish. This easy-drinking and age-worthy wine was the favorite white of the tasting!
(2) Centopassi - Tendoni di Trebbiano - 2015: This is a fuller-bodied dry white wine made from 100% Trebbiano. Richer and more structured with notes of citrus, peaches, almonds, oak and butterscotch. Fun Fact: The grapes are grown near Corleone on land once owned by the Sicilian mafia!
(3) COS - Zibibbo Pithos - 2016: Made from 100% Zibbibo, aka Muscat of Alexandria. This wine has a deep gold color and intense aromas of flowers and honey but on the palate is dry and complex with flavors of candied and dried orange peel, spiced peaches and nuts. The grapes are fermented in terracotta vessels called “amphorae” just like in ancient Roman times.
(4) I Vigneri di Salvo Foti - Vigna di Milo Caselle - 2015: This wine is 100% Carricante from the same producer as the Aurora (above), but the grapes are grown in a special Cru vineyard at a higher elevation of just over 3,000 feet above sea level. Similar aromas and flavors as the Aurora but softer fruit and silkier texture, with a bit of anise and white pepper. Salvo Foti is the known as the “godfather” of Mt. Etna wine due to his influential role in elevating wine making in the region.
